Easy Decorative DIY Orange Flowers

One of my favorite healthy snacks is a good juicy orange. Since I nearly always have them on hand, this thought came to me lately to utilize the peel to make something both beautiful and practical. There was no reason for me to keep putting them to compost immediately soon. Instead, I can add them to my design and bring some vivid smell to the space at the same time.

Ways to Display DIY Orange Flowers

While this activity is to produce flowers to place inside a jar with other dried leaves and potpourri bits, you may absolutely display this in various ways. As you can see in my images, I put them around the jar in some ornamental hay, but you can be creative and add them just about anyplace.

I believe these would look lovely in a centerpiece alongside these beautiful flowers constructed from old book pages. Just arrange them in a shallow basin with some dried leaves and beautiful hay. Place the paper flowers and orange blossoms in the bowl on top of the leaves for a stunning centerpiece.

Other methods to display them are to attach to flower stems and put in a vase, lay in a shallow bowl with water or ice for a party, or even freeze into ice blocks to garnish a punch bowl.

How Long Will These Flowers Last?

Unlike conventional flowers, these orange blooms may persist for quite a long period. Yes, they do start to break down just like any food product, but in this instance, you will observe them dry up dramatically first. In fact, depending on the humidity in your house, they may dry fully before they start to break down or grow mold.

Typically, I have seen them last for 2-3 weeks before I decided they needed to go ahead and be added to my compost.

How to Make Decorative Orange Flowers

Make Decorative Orange Flowers

Begin by gathering your supplies and arranging your desk. For this activity, you will need a knife, a cutting board, and, of course, the oranges.

To begin, you can insert the dried leaves into the bottom of the jar. You may put in cinnamon sticks, dried fruits, and other little items like acorns os nuts that complement the theme. Fill your jar to roughly the ½ mark, allowing room for the orange flowers to place on top of the other objects.

Now, you will begin peeling the orange. Start by using scissors to cut open the orange, and then carefully peel around the orange, barely separating the peel from the flesh of the fruit. Be cautious not to break this, as it will need to be whole for your bloom.

Next, you will wrap the peel into a circle with the middle being tighter and the peel looser as you go to the end.

You may arrange the peel to display some of the white and some orange to give it a bit more natural look.

Gently put the orange peel flower into the top of the jar and display it as desired.
